Built on the shop floor, not in a boardroom

SmartCast didn't start as a product idea. It started as a tool one die-casting manufacturer built to solve its own RFQ bottleneck — and it grew into something worth sharing with the rest of the industry.

Where it started

Every RFQ that comes into a die-casting shop starts the same way: a customer drawing lands in an inbox, and someone has to read it — the part geometry, every toleranced dimension, the material spec, the surface treatment callouts — before a quotation can even begin. Doing that by hand, drawing after drawing, is slow, and it's the kind of repetitive work that pulls engineers away from the judgment calls that actually need their attention.

SmartCast began as an internal tool built to fix exactly that problem inside one manufacturer's own quoting process — reading drawings automatically, plotting every dimension as a balloon, and carrying that straight through to a costed quotation. Once it was doing that reliably for real, day-to-day RFQs, it became clear the same problem exists at pretty much every die-casting shop.

What we're building toward

Our goal is simple: let engineers spend their time reviewing and deciding, not re-typing what's already on the drawing. Every part of SmartCast — the AI extraction, the balloon plotting, the approval workflow, the customer records that build themselves as you quote — is built around the actual sequence of a real RFQ, not a generic form.

Where we are today
